If you are in the METALS program on a F-1 visa, then you qualify for 12 months of OPT. Since METALS is a STEM degree, if your employer is an e-verify employer, as of this writing you will qualify for an additional 24 months of OPT.

Find out if the company that you want to work for is an e-verify employer. Please note that not every employer listed offers e-verify in every situation. For example, Carnegie Mellon University is an e-verify employer, but only offers e-verify for individuals who are working on U.S. Government contracts.
